One of the most popular Hybrid vehicles on the market today is the Toyota Prius. It is both compact and economical, with a starting price of just $22,400. The price puts the Prius within the realms of reality for the everyday, albeit environmentally-conscious, individual.

The third generation of Toyota Prius, the 2010 model, has EPA ratings of 51 mpg city, and 49 mpg highway. That’s pretty good even for a hybrid, and is a step up from earlier Toyota Prius models.

But a new pricing structure is in the works up for this hybrid; and the Toyota Prius I, II, III, IV, and V are reportedly already available.

The lowest-prices version is the Toyota Prius I, which should run for around $21,000, while the Prius V starts at $27,670.

The new line of Priuses will include a range of features, but it gets better.. A solar powered roof package is available for the Toyota Prius II, III, and IV Models – although not for the V.

The solar roof costs between $3,600 and $4,500. It uses solar panels to supplement the vehicle’s power and get even better mileage. This package also includes a solar-powered ventilation system, a navigation system, a power tilt/slide moon roof, and remote-control air conditioning … for those of us who just can’t be bothered to lean forward and turn the knob?

With the combination of hybrid technology and solar power, a whole new range of fuel efficiency may be within grasp. The solar powered hybrid is said to make mileages of up to 70 mpg possible, under the right circumstances.

If you live in or often visit a sunny climate, a solar-powered roof might go a long ways in reducing your gas bill and carbon emissions.

Under some (although somewhat theoretical) circumstances, the driver of a solar-powered Toyota Prius might never need to buy gas at all.

I have had my Mitsubishi FTO MIVEC for three years and have had nothing but happiness and enjoyment out of it. The only problem is with getting the spares needed to keep it up too scratch. Also, if the chainsaw has a tendency to veer off to the left or to the right when cutting vertically downwards it is another giveaway sign that the chain needs filing.

The cutting tips of the chainsaw chain have a thin coating of chrome on the cutting edge. This chrome plate is the bit that does the actual work. As the chain gets worn down, it’s the chrome which is being worn away which is why the chain becomes less effective over time. To get the chain back to its best condition it needs to be filed. One of the most important factors of this operation is to ensure that the right sized file is used to match the chain being filed. Chainsaws are expensive pieces of equipment and will give long and productive service if maintained diligently.

A roller guide is the name of the tool used to file the chainsaw chain in order to get it back to peak operating condition. It is possible to file the chain by hand but it’s unlikely that this will produce as good a result as using the roller guide. Quite often the chain will get worn down by hitting the ground during use or striking a hard object within the timber. When this is the case the chain must be filed down so that the new chrome edge is revealed. The chainsaw chain can be filed down many times as long as there is still 1 mm left on the heel of the cutter.

Even though it can be a time-consuming and fiddly job to re-sharpen an older chain, it is still wise to get as much life out of the chain as you possibly can. Most chain sharpening kits can be snapped up for around $30 and the only other thing required is a pair of protective gloves. Your chain sharpening kit should contain a chainsaw file gauge,a rounded file (which obviously should be the correct size for the chain question) and a flat file to file the depth gauge on the teeth. It is also wise to have a small hard brush at hand (for example an old toothbrush) and a can of resin solvent in order to maintain the chain and prolong it’s life.

The chainsaw file gauge is used for checking the cutting side and the top plate cutting angles of each tooth on the chain. The round chainsaw file is used to file down and sharpen the chain. The flat chainsaw file is used to file the depth gauge on each tooth to the right height and shape. You can use the brush to clear any rubbish off the chain before sharpening.

One problem which means that you need to replace a chain (even if it still has some life left in it in terms of depth) is if you end up stretching your chain. When replacing a chain that has come to the end of its useful life, you should make a note of the make and model of your chainsaw. It’s also a good idea to take the old chainsaw chain with you as well as the actual chainsaw if this is possible in order to make sure that you don’t waste time making multiple trips back to the store in order to get the right chain. By using these basic tips you should be sure to get the most value for money from the lifetime of your chain.
